Trip to Eger!

Our trip to Eger!

At the weekend (11.10.2013 – 13.10.2013) Nicolas and I visited Eger with some Erasmus students. The trip was planned by ESN (Erasmus Student Network) and luckily we had the chance to join them and to get to know some new people!!!

On the first evening we visited the famous wine cellars of Eger! After a nice dinner we tried the perfect wine!!!
On Saturday we visited the city. There are a lot of sights from former times. We were in the “Eger Castle”, visited the Basilica and the Minaret of Eger (40m high!), walked through the nice narrow alleys in the old part of the inner city and had the pleasure to see the “marzipan art” of “Lajos Kopcsik” - a famous confectionist.
On Sunday morning we took a bus to a very big wellness resort called “Saliris Resort”! We swam in the healing waters and enjoyed a nice time in the spa!!!

In the afternoon we had the chance to test how it is to be blind. After that we went home by train.

My trip to Bratislava!

I spent the first weekend of October in Bratislava.
On the one hand I wanted to see the city, but the other reason was the concert of one of my favorite Band’s “Irie Révoltés” - a German - French band. They played on Friday evening and it was really, really, really awesome!!! I am glad, that I made the journey to see them!!!

My hostel, called “Freddie next to Mercury”, was next to the music hall. I can really recommend it, but it is not directly in the city center.
On Saturday I checked out the city. Bratislava seems very small and I think one day is enough to see the most important parts.
The old historical center is very nice! There are nice buildings and sweet coffee shops -  is characterized by many baroque palaces. The “Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra” and the old “Old National Theatre” building look very awesome!
I really enjoyed the “Old Town” in the evening with a lot of lights. The “Bratislava Castle” is really nice and when you are there you can enjoy the wonderful view over Bratislava.

There a bigger Shopping Centre’s outside the city and small shops in the city center of Bratislava.

So I stop 7km farer, so let’s go for walk… 1 hour 30min later finally, I’m in the center, that beautiful by night. I search the bus station but without map at 4am, it’s really not easy.

Cluj Napoca by night

After one hour in the center I find one map, “Oups” I walked too much, I have to go back.
After 45minutes to walk and one kebab for just 1.66€ (awesome cheap).

KEBAB 1.66€

I arrive at the bus station, there I ask for go to Buru, she say me 1 pm, but you miss the first, it was at 6 am, and I say , “it’s just 5.55am” , no she answer me , “here you have to put one hour more “jetlag” :p.
So let’s go to the hotel next to the station for sleep few hours.

Saturday:
I'm waking up after a short sleep, and direction bus station, there I wait again one hour and during this time one girl try to cell me one Samsung Galaxy S II for 100€.
In the bus, I hear “Bella” by Maître Gims, it’s French song  :p, that’s funny to hear that here in Romania.
We cross different cities and I ask myself, it’s Buru or not … HEYYY this one is Buru!! I jump outside the bus, but What the F**, its lost place! After to have visit the amazing center of Buru, I find one old women and she tell me the direction for go to Torockò.

Buru center

Let’s go for walk 8km or maybe find one driver enough nice for drop me there J. After 3 km, MIRACLE !! one car stop and bring me to Torockò and ask for me to the local people where is the Castle. They leave me just front of the way direction the ruins.
At the end of the way, 2 km later I’m finally in the Castle! Lonely at the top, surrounded by mountains, this amazing feeling to be on the top of the world.

"On the top of the world" =P

I take some pictures, the sun start to fall behind mountains, and the weather become colder, it’s time to go down...
Torockò Castle

I take the road direction, return to Torockò, after 3km and 45minutes to walk, I arrive to Torockò, and find the place for sleep checked on internet before my travel. What the F*** it’s full so direction to try another place, and another, and another , in the last one is not possible but the old owner call someone and find me one couch where it will be possible for me to sleep.
She give the number of this place, and her card with her phone number if I have any problem.
I search this place during 15minutes and finally, I find it !
The guy tell me to wait few minutes and give me one room just so cute … It’s 7.30pm I fall in sleep, the last time I go to bed at that time maybe I was 3 years old.

Sweety bed Room

Sunday :

6.15 am wake up. I leave my room, nobody is wake up, so I leave there one letter, on which one I try to write some few Hungarian words, and in side I put 30lei, the price for this night. I hope they found this letter and nobody took that before the owner  :/.  Because really thanks it was a good night.
And let’s go for try to catch one car for Cluj Napoca or walk 70km…

Romanian Sun rise

Auto stop =P
After 1 hour 10minutes, I arrive at Buru, I take the direction of Cluj Napoca (60km) and Turda (19km), I walk on the road and after 3 km, one car direction Turda stop and bring me there! During the way, we try to speak together but me in Franco-hungarian-English and them in Romanian we don’t have to much success for understand what we say J.
But she explain me they don’t want my money, they bring me there because it’s helpful and she is religious, so help each other is naturel!
The husband and his cute wife stop at the church and them son, bring me to the share car station, he find me someone who go to Cluj Napoca, and leave me there.
Ahah finally I’m not so unlucky, let’s go to Cluj Napoca! After only 30minutes I arrive at Cluj, I pay just 5 lei for this travel.

I go to the train station, on my way I stop in different shop for buy beer and chocolate from Romania. One guy security guy come to me and ask me what I do during 5 minutes front of beers, I answer him “I search a good one!”, so I find everything, chocolate and beers.

Let’s go to the train station, there I ask for my, and she say me “It’s ok but you have to pay one sit, in this train you have to reserve one sit”, What The F** in Szeged everything was ok…
One nice girl saw me and come to help me, she speak English and explain what is the problem, but I have to pay so 3euros … u_u”

train station Cluj Napoca

Now I’m sit and I will wait my train during 4hours 30minutes.

Mode homeless people :p

I stay sit during 2 hours, and I decide to walk and take some pictures.

funny picture :p

After my shooting, I go back to the train station and I see one guy who give some food to pigeons.
Few minutes later, I move and he ask me something, so in French I answer him sorry but I’m French and I don’t understand what you said.
I sit few meters next to him and he try again to tell me something. I ask him if he speak Hungarian and the answer is “yes”.

Joseph and pigeons

So let’s go for speak a bit with him, and then he ask me where I come from, where I go now, what I do in Cluj Napoca, what I do in Szeged. And after this quiz like a real police man, I decide to ask him few words in Romanian. He teach me the number 1 till 10, how to say “hello, bye, I love you, and thanks”.

During this lesson that’s cool, no stereotype, no border line, he is 42, I’m 22 years old, I met him 10 minutes ago, but we share together “normally”. We talk so well every two that I do not realize the time passing and my train is arrived. I say thanks to joseph for this great time and I go in my train direction Szolnok, Hungary!
The train whistle and I check for the last time of my week end the view of Cluj napoca behind my window, 1, 2, 3... That end and Cluj disappears bit by bit…
After a few minutes, with the rhythm of the movement of the train, and the chatter of old Romanian beside me, I fall asleep.
At my wake up, just 45minutes spent, but front of my eyes, behind the window the landscape is amazing, mountains, trees with their autumn colours, fields, rivers, that’s just really beautiful.

Fields in Romania

I take some pictures and what?! I see write next to the road “Cluj Napoca 76km”, after 2 hours and 30 minutes, we travelled just 76km… yes Romanian trains are really slow, but anyway because behind my “TV”, I can admire real beautiful landscapes. The river runs few meters next to the rail way, following mountains and WOHOW! Just at the end of one tunnel, hiding behind trees I perceive one awesome waterfall, unfortunately I don’t have time to take my camera for take one picture but believe me, it was just paradisiac view. Just 50 meters next to the water one wooden house stand between the mountain and the river, people who live here they are lucky! And when I see that I realise what the nature did is just amazing sometimes, but 5 minutes later Aaargh!! Forest destroy, truck and ugly bridge, destroying one beautiful place for put one road in this lost place… why ?! u_u”
I take my bag for write this words and OH! one paper fall at my foot and that my sit reservation did in Szeged… U_u” sometimes I’m genious, but often not at the good moment.
If you don’t know how to spend your money, tell me I have some ideas…

6.10pm the train stop at the border line, the controller ask my paper, I say “wait minute” and she answer directly “French?” My accent is really recognizable…. U_u”
She check my passport and say thanks and “au revoir”… So cute… :p
Behind me, I leave Romania, I take my last pictures and the train continue his way.
The sun set, the rails march tirelessly, I close my eyes and wait Szolnok.

Sun set in Romania

We are not arrived, I check my watch, I have 2hours and 30minute till to arrive in Szeged, I check my phone and “Oups”…. “jetlag” it’s 3hours 30minutes before arrived there…OK….

How to sleep in the train

The train stop again, I ask one controller, 1hour 30minutes till Szolnok….
9.00pm finally arrived at Szolnok… And after an AMAZING sprint I catch my train for Cégled, and irony, in the last train I bought two sits and in this one I have to stay stand because I don’t have place some place :p u_u”.
Perfect arrived at Cégled, the train for Szeged is just front of me, I leave one for enter in the other, 9.25pm Szeged I come !  And WHOUHOU in this train, I find one place for sit in first class :D.

=D

10.51pm arrived in Szeged finally…. It was longue but I did it !
11pm arrived at home! Home sweet home! It was crazy week end :D

How resume my travel =P

It’s the end of my travel in Romania, I go in my bed…

There I met some really nice people and despite my vocal language not enough I was able communicate with them. In the world lot of are countries, lot of are languages, but for sure one things it’s same everywhere, to be nice is universal.
And doesn’t matter your accent, when you speak with your soul, everyone understand.

On-Arrival Training in Budapest

Nicolas is missing, because he had to get the bus for his trip to Belgrad ;)

Our On-Arrival Training took place from 23.09 - 27.09.2013.

Around 20 volunteers, who stay in different cities in Hungary, came and spent the week together. We got to know each other and were a nice team! We learned a lot about the other projects and it was nice to see what the others do. We gained a lot of impressions and spend an unforgettable time together.
Furthermore we were able to learn a lot of things about EVS, for example we dealt with the Youthpass that we all have to create at the end of our voluntary service.

In our freetime we visited Budapest together and saw the sights of the city.

Coffetime! (Cacaotime ;))

Eating pizza together!

The figures symbolize how we feel after the training, what we learnd and how it was.

Nicolas and my painting connected through a bridge!
