At Saturday (07.09) was the famous “Halfesztivál” in Szeged. A lot of organizations came to the festival to cook fish soup. We were also there to taste the famous Hungarian national food!
It was unbelievable to see how many different versions of fish soup were
cooked.
Nicolas had fun in the bumper car! |
At Sunday we spent a nice day at “Ópusztaszer”. We could learn a lot of things about the Hungarian history. We visited the famous “Feszty-Panorama” (Feszty-körkép) and were very impressed by the size of the painting! It is 120 Meter long and 15 Meter high - unbelievable!
Unfortunately we were not allowed to take pictures.
We took part in a school lesson which showed us how school was in former times.
Furthermore we watched a horse show, where we learned how the people fought against their enemies.
There we take part in the school lesson. |

In the evening Nicolas and I went to the river
to see the big firework! It was a really good weekend!

August is over...
My first month in Hungary is over
and I look back to a very lively time.
In my first week I went to “Ötlefa” where I met a lot of people who received my very cordially and played a lot of games with me like Solo or table tennis – really good games, because they work without language skills!
In my first week I went to “Ötlefa” where I met a lot of people who received my very cordially and played a lot of games with me like Solo or table tennis – really good games, because they work without language skills!
Luckily I was able to join the
people of “Ötlefa” during the Summer Camp, which took place in the second week
of August. On our first day we went to the Zoo of Szeged. Mostly I like “szurikáta”,
they were really cute!
On the second day we went to “Aquapolis”,
a really big and good swimming pool in Szeged. We tried the different slides
for hours and had a lot of fun together. The summer camp offers during the following
days a lot of activities: a professional cook made “bofracs”, going for a swim
in a lake and playing paintball. During the mornings we played a lot of games
and at the last day the youngsters were able to participate in a theater play.
After this exciting and funny week,
which was of course hard, because of the language problems, I was glad to have
a free day to communicate with the lovely people in Germany!
Not to forget:
In the second week of August Nicolas
and I had the pleasure to join Szabi’s and Edina’s marriage! It was really
(!!!) awesome and of course, it was unique for us to see how people get married
in Hungary!
During the third week of August I
was able to join the Hungarian culture at the SZIN Festival!
I listened to a
lot of different Hungarian music. It was really nice to be a the Brains
concert, because Nicolas and I stand directly in front of the stage, but unfortunately
we could not sing with the others…
Nicolas and I joining the "Brains" concert! |
The concert of Irie Maffia was also
great and I like the Hungarian dance!
During the Festival Nicolas and I were able to join a lot of different activities!
Nicolas and I represented the EVS program during the Festival at the information desk of “DARTKE”. Some people did our quizzes and were able to learn something about France and Germany.
The SZIN will be in good memories!!!
In the last week of August the
members of “Agora” and “Youth is Tolerance” went to the Balaton to have training.
In addition to this it was a good chance for Nicolas and me to visit the
Balaton!!!
Sometimes it was hard, but all
members took care to speak English or translated for us. (Thanks!!!) We spend a
nice time together and I am very glad that I got to know all the members!
Beautiful sunset at Balaton! |
Beautiful view! |
Of course: Learning! |
Campfire :) |
August was a really good start for
me!
Now I look forward to the new month
and we’ll see what will happen!!
